Kalou Hints At Chelsea Exit

Kalou has found game-time at a premium under new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, who took over coaching duties this summer.

The Ivorian has yet to start in the Premier League under the new regime and has been limited to two substitute appearances this season.

The 23-year-old featured prominently under Chelsea's previous two managers Avram Grant and his predecessor José Mourinho.

Indeed, it was Mourinho who signed Kalou from Feyenoord in the summer of 2006.

Kalou revealed that he is working hard to win a place in the line-up and learning from his experiences in London. However, he hinted that if the situation remained the same in the future, he may seek a Stamford Bridge exit.

He told Setanta Sports: “Of course I practice hard to have opportunities, but the manager’s decisions must be respected, even if I’m here to play.

“It’s up to me to work twice as hard at training, and to be honest I try to give my best in order to improve my football and hopefully it’s going to pay off.

“I don’t know what my future consists of, the season is still long. It’s too early to take a decision right now.

“When a young player arrives at Chelsea he’s happy to learn, and then you can have the opportunity to grow in another club or in here.

“As a young player I am aware of the fact that I have to make the perfect choice and at some point of my career I’ll have to accept to fly with my own wings.”

Chelsea's Brazilian coach Scolari revealed in August that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had once been interested in acquiring the services of Kalou; it remains to be seen if a bid will be forthcoming from the Emirates in January.
