Cole has not been first choice striker at the Boleyn Ground throughout his two years at the club, however, with the frequency that first-choice pairing Criag Bellamy and Dean Ashton pick up injuries, he has been in the team more often than not.
With the sight of his ex-Chelsea team-mate Gianfranco Zola on the West Ham bench, Cole is even less eager to depart east London.
Although a reputed target for Sunderland, Cole is determined to dig his heels in at Upton Park and fight for his place in the side.
He revealed that under the stewardship of Zola, 'exciting times' lay ahead for the Hammers and that he was looking forward to seeing Zola's brand of football ingrained on the side.
He told the Daily Star: "He (Zola) wants to put his style of play and all of his experiences into how we play and these are exciting times for West Ham United.
"I've got so much respect for him.
"I'm not licking his bum, I'm just saying everyone knows he's a model pro. I don't see his lack of managerial experience a risk, he's been through all levels and I think he'll do a great job here."
