Spurs Planning January Huntelaar Swoop?

Since January, Tottenham Hotspur have sold three influential goal-scorers: Jermain Defoe (Portsmouth); Robbie Keane (Liverpool); and Dimitar Berbatov (Manchester United), between them they could have guaranteed their club 50 goals, and they could have done with a percentage of that share in their opening four Premier League games, but alas they have moved on and so must the club.

In an effort to re-balance the White Hart Lane outfit's forward lane Spurs' head coach Juande Ramos and Tottenham chiefs have brought Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko to north London to partner Englishman Darren Bent.

Also, as part of the Berbatov package, Fraizer Campbell has joined Tottenham Hotspur on loan but it is unclear how often the former Hull striker will be utilised because he has no top-flight experience in the English league.

In order to remedy this, Sport1 are reporting that Tottenham are eager to land Dutch star Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and are looking to make a January bid. However, Ajax are believed to be holding out for a fee in excess of £30million, and have already rebuffed a bid from former Tottenham manager Martin Jol, who wants the striker to join him at Hamburg.

The Telegraph are also reporting that Ramos is to receive more responsibility in the transfer market. In an official statement Daniel Levy, Tottenham Chairman, said:

"I cannot deny that I share with [the supporters] a disappointment that we couldn't add further to replace attacking options."
