Wenger hopes past mistakes will not come back to haunt his side when they travel to Kiev for their opening Group G game on Wednesday.
The North London outfit have not fared terribly well on their previous visits to the Ukrainian capital, their last encounter at the Lobanovsky Dynamo Stadium - a CL group game in 2003 - ending in a 2-1 defeat.
That result is significant considering the Gunners were arguably the best side in Europe at the time - indeed, they famously went to win the Premier League that season without losing a single game.
Hence, the Arsenal manager is wary of Yuri Semin's side and admitted that their relative obscurity on the European scene could aid them.
"For me, Dynamo Kiev is a bit of an unknown quantity," Wenger said in The Sun.
"They look like they always have the best players around their region, so it really depends on the quality of the generation they have at the moment.
"But they can be a very dangerous side. We know that because we played them when they had Shevchenko, Rebrov and Luzhny and they were a very, very difficult side."
